As part of an effort to develop parent engagement in school communities, the NYCDOE will be offering opportunities for parents to network with other parents and meet with Chancellor Fariña at 52 ChambersStreet, Tweed Courthouse, in Manhattan.

    • Parents of students in elementary schools are invited to register here for a Parent Conference on November 1; this event will focus on a range of topics including activities that parents can do at home with young children and a step-by-step overview of the IEP process.
    • Parents of students in high schools are invited to register here for a Parent Conference on November 15; this event will focus on a range of topics including strategies for helping teenage students organize and prioritize, strategies for parents to get more involved at school, and guidance to address concerns about bullying.
    • Parents of students in middle schools are invited to register here for a Parent Conference on December 6; this event will focus on a range of topics including strategies to help teenage students manage stress and concerns about bullying, as well as a step-by-step overview of the IEP process.

All parents of students in New York City schools are invited to attend; Chancellor Fariña will serve as the keynote speaker at each event. Your school’s parent coordinator has been notified about these opportunities by email; please work with your parent coordinator to encourage parents to attend and to assist families with registration. Translated flyers and more information are available here.
